Last Sunday, we heard about discipleship. Today it's about being a missionary.

1. In a world of stars and stripes, titles and accolades, we have been told what matters is not where you sit, but how you serve. Not what you know but how much you impart; not what you teach, but how much you tithe (give).

This is the final extract from chapter 6 of John’s gospel that the Church invites us to meditate on at this time. We have had three rather abstract passages and, no doubt, you will be relieved to find that we have a story again, just as we had at the opening of the chapter.

1. Jesus was humiliated in the very heart of his own teaching by his own disciples when they were fighting for position. This is the last night. He was teaching them with his life example and stories for three years.

He is Most Reverend Domnic Kimengich. He is the diocesan bishop of Lordwar, Kenya. He equated himself as one among his people and came down keeping his dignity ...and office for a while aside and carried the food grains along with the volunteers and the local youth for the poor hungry flock of his diocese. He set a wonderful example as a servant appointed by the servant of servants, not to master but to serve, to the rest of the bishops in the world. There is much to learn from him.

Kozhikode: Once while patrolling the streets during the wee hours, the Chemmad police saw a man ‘chasing’ a woman on the highway. After a stiff tussle, the team succeeded in holding back the man.
But to the embarrassment of the ‘heroes’, the woman started running back scolding the police. And she turned out to be Dr Laila Begum, a gynaecologist, who was rushing to the hospital followed by her aide to attend an emergency as her personal driver had failed to turn up.
